Town of Bowling Green Receives
State Infrastructure Funding
Bowling Green, VA – The State Office of Drinking Water (ODW) has approved an application from the Town of Bowling Green for $30,000 in funding from the State Revolving Loan Fund.
The funds will be used to enhance the GIS Utility Mapping System and develop an Asset Management Program.
The application was submitted by Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs more than 12 months ago and was approved ahead of the end-of-the-year deadline.
“These funds are another step toward improving our GIS system in the area of utility identification,” commented Adams-Jacobs. “This is another step toward the modernization of our Utility system.”
The final amount will be determined after general conditions are approved between ODW and Town Administration.
The establishment of the Town’s first GIS system came about earlier this year from an in-kind donation of $70,000. Since 2024, the Town has secured substantial external funding for critical infrastructure improvements, including:
· $6,206,205 – Virginia Department of Health grant for Gross Alpha treatment and well replacements
· $2,700,000 – Virginia Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund for wastewater infrastructure
· $120,000 – In-kind engineering services for Wastewater Treatment Facility improvements
· $70,000 – In-kind services for Geographic Information System development for utility infrastructure
· $45,000 – Virginia Department of Health technical assistance grant
· $30,000 – GIS Mapping System and Asset Management Program
· $3,500 – Virginia Main Street technical assistance grant for downtown revitalization
Total external funding secured: Over $9.4 million
