
PRESS RELEASE — High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Fugitive with Multiple Warrants

Bowling Green, VA — On the evening of August 15, 2025, at approximately 12:00p.m., Officer T. Ervin of the Bowling Green Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a 2014 Honda CR-V he believed to be traveling at 72 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. The incident quickly escalated when the driver refused to stop, leading Officer Ervin on a high-speed pursuit along Route 301 into Caroline County. The suspect vehicle reached speeds in excess of 100 mph during the pursuit. The chase came to an end at the intersection of Penola Road and Route 301, when the driver lost control and crashed. When Officer Ervin approached the vehicle, he was able to safely get the driver into custody and was encountered by a scared and injured female passenger who was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Charles Wyman of Lynchburg, VA. Officer Ervin then discovered that Wyman had three outstanding arrest warrants from Westmoreland County VA, Lynchburg VA, and Bedford VA, for failing to appear in court and probation violation. Following a thorough investigation, Officer Ervin obtained arrest warrants against Wyman for Felony Eluding, Driving Revoked (DUI-related), Felony Abduction and Speeding. Wyman was transported to Pamunkey Regional Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
