Town Council Extends Property Tax Due Date to January 9

BOWLING GREEN, VA – The Bowling Green Town Council voted unanimously at its November 6 meeting to extend the due date for upcoming property tax payments to January 9, 2026.

Personal property taxes are normally due on December 5, but Town staff recommended an extension for this payment period only. All Council members approved the recommendation.

What taxpayers need to know:

Payments received after January 9 will incur a penalty equal to 10% of the assessed tax or $10, whichever is greater. If the tax is less than $10, the penalty will equal the tax amount.

Additionally, interest will accrue at a rate of 10% per annum on any delinquent tax and penalty beginning January 12 and continuing until paid in full.
